How to write a greeting card

It is always a good gesture to address our wishes to our close relations but also to our professional relations, customers, prospects, colleagues, etc. But be careful! We do not address our wishes in the same way to our close relations and to our professional relations. In what terms should we express ourselves? What are the most reliable phrases and the mistakes to avoid? Here are some tips on how to write a greeting card.

1)     When you write a greeting card: be personal

Sending a greeting card is about writing to a specific person. Whether you are close to them or want to reconnect, you will need to take this into account when writing your message. So, it is important to write a personalized greeting that is truly addressed to someone.

2)     When you write a greeting card: be warm

There is no need to adopt an overly formal or formal language. Remember that the purpose of greetings is to send a warm message. An overly distant or neutral tone could ruin your efforts. Instead, try to use the same words as when you speak and add a personal note for each person. And don’t be afraid to use humor if the tone is right!

3)     Be honest

If you are introverted by nature, there is no need to use superlatives for your wishes when the expression “jumping for joy” is completely unknown to you in your daily life! Prefer a sober or poetic formula which corresponds more to your character

4)     When you write a greeting card: be colorful

Depending on the background of your greeting card, it may be best to write your greeting in a light or dark color. It is important that each word is clearly visible to the recipient of your mail. To add even more magic to your card, feel free to add glitter or gold dust to your envelope to make your message even more unique.

5)     Don’t forget to sign it

With family, alone or as a lover, a greeting card text should be signed: a simple first name for people you know well, a first and last name for others.

When you write a greeting card, you are seizing an opportunity to tell someone you care, send a positive message or express your gratitude. Hopefully you’ll run out of ink and paper for all the people you sent a greeting card to.
